On 3 November 2026, a first aid training session for cadets of National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” was held at the University. The event was organised by the Flash Army team, Ukraine’s largest military marketplace.
The ability to provide first aid is an essential skill that can save lives in both everyday and emergency situations. These skills are particularly important in the current circumstances, when everyone should be prepared to respond appropriately to situations involving threats to human life and health.
During the training, participants gained theoretical knowledge and practical skills in providing first aid to casualties. The session was conducted by instructors with relevant theoretical qualifications, practical experience in providing medical assistance, and experience in training civilians.
The training programme covered several important topics, including:
- Assessing scene safety and the condition of the casualty;
- The fundamentals of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR);
- Techniques for controlling life-threatening bleeding and the proper application of tourniquets;
- Providing assistance in cases of injuries, burns, and loss of consciousness;
- Practical application of the acquired skills in simulated emergency scenarios.
Particular attention was paid to the practical component of the training, as practising response procedures helps participants develop confidence and the ability to act quickly and effectively in critical situations.
Initiatives of this kind make an important contribution to fostering a culture of safety, responsibility, and mutual assistance among young people. The knowledge and skills acquired will be valuable to the cadets not only in their future professional careers but also in their everyday lives.
National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” expresses its sincere gratitude to the Flash Army team and the instructors for conducting this training, sharing their expertise, demonstrating professionalism, and making a valuable contribution to preparing the cadets to respond effectively in emergency situations.
