The 30th International Maritime Lecturers Association (IMLA30) Conference was held at the University of Split, Faculty of Maritime Studies from 24th till 27th September 2025. Over 70 maritime education experts and professionals from 26 countries participated in this major international event, which focused on current challenges and innovations in maritime training and education.

Prof. O.V. Sienko, Assoc. Prof. M.V. Chesnokova and Assoc. Prof. S.A. Karyansky (who also serves on the IMLA Executive Committee) were representatives of National University “Odessa Maritime Academy”. They delivered papers on the following topics:

  • “Cash Flow Management in Marine Commercial Shipping.”
  • “Formation of Human Resources within the Framework of the Gender Policy of the Maritime Industry.”

Other conference highlights included:

  • Opening addresses by Dean Dr. Ivan Peronja and Vice‑Rector Prof. Dr. Niksa Jajac of the University of Split, and introductory remarks by IMLA Chair Alison Noble (who noted the themes of World Maritime Day).
  • Keynote presentations by Dr. Maximo Q. Mejia Jr. (President of the World Maritime University) on IMO’s STCW revision and the Green Transition, and by Capt. Berislav Vranic (IMO Goodwill Maritime Ambassador) on the need for innovation to prevent container loss.
  • Simulator demonstrations by Kongsberg Maritime AS and Poseidon Simulation AS, plus a Nautical Institute session highlighting the benefits of professional membership and development.
  • Parallel workshops in the afternoon focusing on bridge navigation simulation and engine‑room engineering simulation.

Overall, the IMLA30 conference provided a valuable forum for networking and exchange of best practices in maritime education and training.
