From May 7 to 8, 2025, a delegation of the National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” consisting of Acting Rector Professor Mykhaylo Miyusov and Director of the Institute of Navigation Professor Igor Vorokhobin visited the Constanta Maritime University (Romania) to participate in an extraordinary meeting of the Black Sea Association of Maritime Institutes (BSAMI). Associate Professor Sergey Karyansky participated in the meeting as part of the delegation of the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy (Bulgaria).

The purpose of the meeting was to resume the association’s active work after a break related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the war between Russia and Ukraine. Due to the aggressive war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the membership of the Admiral Ushakov State Maritime University (Novorossiysk) in the Association was suspended. The meeting was attended by representatives of maritime higher education institutions of Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine, who, following the discussion of the prospects for further cooperation, signed the “Constanta Statement for Education and Maritime Training – New Directions and Developments”. A decision was also made to comprehensively revise the basic agreement of the Association. The Constanta Maritime University presented to the guests’ new laboratories for the training Ship Engineers and Electo-Technical Officers.
