General meeting of members of the Association of Sea Captains of Odessa took place in National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” on December 21, 2017. The issues related to the admission to Association’s membership and board election were discussed in the course of meeting .

The activities of Association is held under the slogan “Unity for Safety at Sea” and aimed at the legal protection and support of captains, association of maritime organizations in order to solve problems of maritime safety, work on the creation and organization of the maritime policy of the state in regard to safety of navigation.

Important issues in the work of the Association remain the problems of maritime education, seafarers’ employment, reorganization of maritime transport management and review of the Merchant Shipping Code of Ukraine. The Association of Sea Captains of Odessa is an associated member of the International Federation of Shipmasters’ Associations (IFSMA) and maintains regular contacts with other Associations of Captains in Ukraine, CIS countries and other countries.
