The first half of the current academic year at National University «Odessa Maritime Academy» marked the beginning of the project Strengthening Engagement through Education for Democracy(SEED) of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) with the assistance of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) – Course: «Democracy: from theory to practice». The development and implementation of this project in Ukraine is supported by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) international organization and with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and British assistance from the UK government. The course consists of interactive lessons that contribute to the development of democratic governance skills, initiatives and leadership. In practice, it is reflected in the implementation of projects on its own initiatives for the benefit of society, which were stipulated by student initiatives and the principles of democracy culture. In the next semester, the course “Democracy: from theory to practice” will be held by future managers – the first-year students of the specialty “Management” of National University «Odessa Maritime Academy».
