The Annual Black Sea Association of Maritime Institutions was held at the premises of Piri Reis University (Istanbul, Turkey) on January 24-26, 2019. National University «Odessa Maritime Academy» was represented by M.V. Miyusov, the Rector and M.V. Chesnokova, Head of International Department.
The 9th General Meeting of the Executive Committee revised the basic agreement of the Assembly and discussed further cooperation issues both within the framework of the Black Sea countries and in the alliance with Shanghai Maritime University.
On January 25, Prof. Dr. Oral Erdogan, Rector of Piri Reis University and Mr. Tamer Kiran, Chairman Turkish Chamber of Shipping delievered welcoming remarks at the solemn opening of the International Conference on Black Sea Cooperation (MET, MSR and MSP).
The Association’s members took part in the conference, where reports were presented. Mr. Selim Dursun, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey delivered a keynote speech on: «Importance of Black Sea Region from Maritime Perspective». Besides, M.V. Miyusov, the Rector of NU «ОМА» participated in the panel discussion on «New Developments in the Black Sea and new requirements on Maritime Education and Training».
Within the framework of the panel discussion, the participants of the conference also discussed the following issue: «Maritime Silk Road Implications and Opportunities and Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP) Requirements in Black Sea Region».
Moreover, this event provided the participants with a great opportunity to establish new international contacts and discuss the issues for further cooperation as well as new projects implementation.
