Stanislav Yakovych Nezavitin is a deep-sea captain, organizer of port operations, scientist, and educator whose professional career has been inseparably connected with the sea for almost six decades. He was born on February 8, 1937, into a working-class family. From an early age, he showed an interest in engineering and the exact sciences, but later chose a maritime profession. After graduating from the Odessa Higher Engineering Marine School in 1959, he began working for the Black Sea Shipping Company.

Stanislav Nezavitin’s career developed steadily and dynamically. As early as 1967, he became the captain of a large-tonnage tanker. In 1978, Stanislav Yakovych was appointed captain of a seaport under construction—the future Port of Pivdennyi. For seven years, he was directly involved in the formation and development of the new port harbor.

His further professional activity was associated with responsible managerial positions, including work abroad. In 1993, he was appointed captain of the Illichivsk Commercial Sea Port (now Chornomorsk), where he made a significant contribution to the development of port infrastructure and the safety of navigation.

The professional achievements of Stanislav Nezavitin have been recognized with numerous state and industry awards. He has been awarded the Orders of Merit, 2nd and 3rd Class, and holds the honorary titles “Honored Transport Worker of Ukraine,” “Honorary Employee of the Illichivsk Port,” and “Veteran of Labor of the Port of Pivdennyi.” In 2023, Stanislav Yakovych was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of the city of Chornomorsk. A port tug currently operating in the port waters has been named in his honor.

In addition to his practical activities, Stanislav Yakovych is actively involved in public service. He is a Corresponding Member of the Transport Academy of Ukraine, a member of the Council of the State Shipping Safety Inspectorate of Ukraine, a technical expert and consultant of the International Federation of Shipmasters’ Associations (IFSMA), and an auditor for the International Safety Management Code.

The presentation took place in a sincere and friendly atmosphere with light notes of nostalgia, during which seafarers and scholars warmly and gratefully recalled the life path of Stanislav Yakovych, as well as the moments when their professional journeys intersected with his at different times.

The National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” expresses its gratitude to Stanislav Yakovych for his visit, congratulates him on the publication of the book, and wishes him strong health, peaceful skies, and many long years of a happy and calm life!
