According to the results of the recertification audit of the quality management system (May, 2019) concerning educational activities at different educational and scientific levels of higher education, methodological, scientific, scientific and technical and innovative activities, practical training and assistance for the employment of seafarers to meet the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 (State Standard of Ukraine 9001:2015) National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” received new certificates of conformity of the quality management system:

It should be reminded that in 2003 the Academy, one of the first among of higher educational institutions in Ukraine, developed and implemented a quality management system that meets the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard, which is annually checked for compliance by conducting external and internal audits according to the schedule. Since then, the provided procedures are certified according to the requirements of Regulation I/8 “Quality standards” of the Amendments to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978, as amended (STCW) and corresponding section A-I/8, are subject to certification. Recently, the Academy has chosen one of the most prestigious companies of certification services in the world – Bureau Veritas, a member of the International Association of Classification Societies and has a consultative status in the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

It should also be noted that in April 2018, the auditors of the European Marine Safety Agency (EMSA) in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine conducted in our Academy another (planned) audit of the national system of education, training and certification of seafarers for compliance with the requirements of the Directive 2008/106/EU and the STCW Convention. During the discussion of the results of this audit, EMSA auditors noted the high level of programs and courses that train seafarers at the Academy, a qualitative exam system, the availability of appropriate special equipment and simulators, and the relevant qualifications of lecturers and instructors.

As the result, the National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” has once again demonstrated its strong position in the world market of educational services.
