In the framework of cooperation and experience exchange between National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” and Piri Reis University, Krasikov Vladislav, the 3rd year cadet of Navigation Faculty of NU “OMA” was provided with the opportunity to undergo training at Piri Reis University (Istanbul) for the period from 16.06 .18-16.08.2018 on a free basis.
It should be noted that the training is provided not only to students of Piri Reis University but also participation is accepted for students of other educational institutions from foreign countries. In addition, practical and theory-based lectures are held on the ship throughout the year. Approximately, 25 lecturers who are qualified and certified as trainer, as per IMO (International Maritime Organization) standards, have accompanied cadets during open sea trainings.
Krasikov Vladislav shares his brightest impressions regarding training on boats, emergency drill, as well the skills development for the launching and manning of lifeboats. The cadet is pleasantly surprised by benevolent attitude of the Captain of the Turkish training ship, that makes it easy to acquire knowledge and communicate with other cadets.
Particular attention during the training on board the ship is given to lectures of Marine Search and Rescue Service, the main purpose of which is the implementation of activities in organizing search and rescue at sea and protecting human life. It should be noted that during two years of studying at NU “OMA”, the university has provided decent knowledge based on any practical experience and also good command of English, that is an essential condition for any cadet when undergoing shipboard training in the maritime profession.
