On March 12, 2026, the round table on improving the training within the specialization of Operation and Maintenance of Ship’s Electrical Equipment and Means of Automation” was held in National University “Odesa Maritime Academy”. The round table was attended by representatives of the National University “Odesa Maritime Academy” (NUOMA) and the Odesa National Maritime University (ONMU).

The meeting was chaired by the Acting Rector of NUOMA Vadym ZAKHARCHENKO, and the Acting Rector of ONMU Iryna SAVELYEVA.

During the fruitful discussion, the following issues were considered:

  • compliance of educational and professional programs for the training of electro-technical officers with the STCW Code standards and the needs of the modern marine fleet;
  • modern issues and challenges faced by specialists while working on ships, as well as career opportunities for graduates;
  • best practices and experience in the development of educational and professional programs in electrical engineering, including the involvement of industry practitioners in the educational process;
  • prospects for the development of second-cycle (Master’s level) educational and professional programs in the specialization J5.03 Operation and Maintenance of Ship’s Electrical Equipment and Means of Automation;
  • positive factors and potential risks that may arise during integration processes between NUOMA and ONMU within the specialization J5.03 Operation and Maintenance of Ship’s Electrical Equipment and Means of Automation.

As part of the meeting, colleagues ONMU representing visited laboratories and simulators of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Automation and Electrical Engineering of NUOMA.
