On August 6–7, 2026, the National University “Odesa Maritime Academy” hosted a delegation of participants in the coordination and strategic session for the preparation of Ukrainian-Spanish scientific, technical and innovation projects, organized within the framework of the agreements reached at the 5th meeting of the Ukrainian-Spanish Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Industrial Cooperation. The event was held on the initiative of the national platform “Three Seas Initiative – Ukraine,” headed by its President Andrii Yuriyovych Smorodin, and the Acting Rector of the National University “Odesa Maritime Academy,” V.M. Zakharchenko. The session was attended by: Andrii Dmytrovych Ostapenko, Head of the Department of International Scientific Cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine; Olena Andrianivna Serhiienko, Vice-President of the national platform “Three Seas Initiative – Ukraine,” Professor of the Department of Entrepreneurship, Trade and Logistics at NTU “KhPI,” Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor; Vladyslav Vadymovych Panchenko, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work at UkrDUZT, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor; Nazar Yuriyovych Podolchak, Director of the Lviv Polytechnic Science Park, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor; Serhii Hennadiyovych Buriakovskyi, Director of the Research and Design Institute “Molniya” at NTU “KhPI,” Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor; Oleksii Oleksandrovych Larin, Acting Vice-Rector for Scientific Work at NTU “KhPI,” Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor. The Acting Rector of Odesa National Maritime University, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Prof. Iryna Vladyslavivna Savelieva, also joined the joint work, which demonstrated the readiness of Odesa’s maritime universities to consolidate their efforts within the framework of international scientific and technical cooperation.
Over the course of two days, the participants discussed the state and prospects of cooperation with the Spanish side (in particular with INDRA Group), identified priority areas of interaction in the fields of strategic infrastructure, transport and logistics, digital transformation, and critical infrastructure security, and formed a preliminary portfolio of project concepts for further development. The University presented its scientific-educational, research, and innovation potential, outlining promising areas for participation in joint Ukrainian-Spanish projects. Following the results of the work, the participants adopted a Resolution of the coordination and strategic session, in which they confirmed their readiness for further consolidation of efforts, development of international partnership, and implementation of joint scientific, technical, and innovation projects aimed at Ukraine’s integration into the European Research Area and strengthening cooperation within the Three Seas Initiative. Holding the session at the National University “Odesa Maritime Academy” confirms the University’s status as an active participant in the scientific component of the national platform “Three Seas Initiative – Ukraine” and its readiness to engage in international cooperation at the highest level.
