The solemn cadets’ graduation of Naval Institute of NU «ОМА» took place in Odessa Sea Port on February 1, 2020. The event was led by Admiral Igor Voronchenko, Commander of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The ceremony was also attended by Massimo Proietti, the Defense Attache at the Embassy of Italy in Ukraine, the representatives of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the leadership of Naval Institute as well as NU «ОМА», commanders of ships, military units, the representatives of government bodies, public organizations, clergy, volunteers, relatives of graduates.

About fifty cadets of the 6th year of study received the first officer straps, naval dirks and Master’s degrees. Lieutenants were the representatives of all corners of Ukraine, among whom nineteen persons had experience of contract service in the military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, five of them performed combat missions in the anti-terrorist operation zone before entering the Institute in 2014, and two of them – Sergey Savchenko and Vasily Moroz had combat state awards “For courage” 3rd degree. Lieutenants Bogdan Golovash and Vladislav Kostyshin, former captives of the small artillery boats «Berdyansk» and «Nikopol» who upon returning from captivity, completed the full course of study, passed state exams and received Master’s degrees.

Admiral Igor Voronchenko, Commander of the National Fleet personally congratulated the youth on receiving the primary officer rank and thanked the parents, management and scientific and pedagogical staff of Naval Institute of NU «ОМА» for the honour of forming the real elite and professional officers of the Naval Forces of Ukraine.
