Opening of the Memorial Plaque in memory of concentration place of the Jewish ghetto during the occupation by the German and Romanian troops of Odessa took place in the territory of a campus of National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” on October 10, 2017. On October 16, 1941 – it was a period when almost the entire Jewish population of Odessa was physically destroyed as they did not manage to evacuate from the city.

The opening of the memorial plaque gathered together the representatives of NU ”OMA”, the representatives of the Jewish community, Chief Rabbi of Odessa and the representative of the shipping company ”Ukrferry” that sponsored the event. The participants expressed the words of sympathy dedicated to the memory of those terrible events. It is hoped that such events will never happen again in human history only by preserving the memory and paying tribute to those who died and those who managed to survive.
