On January 22, 2020 the 10th Commemorative General Assembly of the Black Sea Association of Maritime Institutions (BSAMI) was held at the premises of Piri Reis University (Tuzla, Turkey). M.V. Miyusov, the Rector, Professor and M.V. Chesnokova, Head of International Cooperation Department represented National University «Odessa Maritime Academy» at the General Assembly.
The BSAMI meeting revised the articles of the Basic Association Agreement and made some significant changes. The issues of promoting joint projects by the Association’s members, the possibility of BSAMI recognition by other world associations and organizations, financial issues, as well as issues of accepting new members in BSAMI were also considered. The meeting supported the candidatures of the following educational institutions: Mircea cel Bătrân Naval Academy (Romania), Batumi Navigation Teaching University (Georgia), Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Ship Building and Ocean Engineering (Turkey).
M.V. Miyusov, the Rector of NU «OMA» was elected the next Chairman of the Black Sea Association of Maritime Universities for the period 2021 — 2023 to act as Deputy Chairman until the transfer of authority.
Besides, an agreement between BSAMI and the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions of Europe (CPMR) was considered and signed in the framework of further cooperation. The subject of the agreement was the opportunity to submit applications and implement joint European projects with the participation of BSAMI member universities.
On January 23-24, the International Conference on Maritime Education was held within the framework of the 10th Commemorative General Assembly of the Black Sea Association of Maritime Institutions (BSAMI) with the participation of rectors and other representatives of BSAMI member universities, as well as participants in the international project MINE-EMI Erasmus +.
