On 17 June, a working meeting was held at the National University «Odessa Maritime Academy» with representatives of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN), which is represented in Ukraine by the Law firm «ANK», a MACN partner since 2021.

The meeting was attended on behalf of the University by the Acting Rector, Vadym Zakharchenko, the Rector’s Adviser, Mykhailo Miyusov, and the Head of the Department of Maritime Law, Valentyn Vyshnevskyi. MACN was represented by the head of the maritime law practice at Law Firm «ANK», advocate Artem Volkov, and advocate and maritime lawyer Igor Danylyuk.

During the meeting, the parties discussed further cooperation between NUOMA and MACN, in particular regarding the organisation of introductory lectures and training sessions for future seafarers, aimed at raising their awareness of the tools available to tackle corruption challenges within the navy. The parties agreed to hold a series of such lectures in the coming academic year, in both face-to-face and online formats. In addition, MACN expressed its willingness to share educational video materials with the University for cadets, which will prove useful when working at sea.
